Pig farm and the best ham in Malaga

Iberian acorn and chestnut ham from the Genal Valley and the Serranía de Ronda is a high quality product based on the differentiation provided by the chestnut: its hallmark. It began to be produced by giving chestnuts as a complement to the acorns of the animals, as it was traditionally done in the Genal. The special touch of the chestnut is combined with the abrupt orography, which improves the quality of the meat, and a completely organic production.

We will visit a small family business located in Faraján, a small village in the Serranía de Ronda. The elaboration of our products includes all the phases of the process, from the breeding of the Iberian pigs to the elaboration of the different products. This guarantees the availability of an excellent quality raw material. Maintaining the highest possible quality means that our production of Iberian products is very limited.

The visit begins at the farm where the pigs move freely, which allows the meat to reach a high degree of exquisiteness. We will be able to see how it is surrounded by chestnut trees, the main food of these animals.

We will continue visiting the warehouse where the hams are cured and the process until they are marketed.

We will finish with a small ham cutting workshop to conclude with a tasting of products.

The best way to combine this visit is having lunch or dinner at the famous restaurant El Pimpi.
